Jerome Petty tried to take his life at age 27, fortunately he failed, and found faith afterwards. At age 30, he moved to Savannah, Georgia, and soon afterward began a career in security as a force protection specialist (federal contractor) for the Department of Defense and then moved on to construction security as a federal contractor for the US State Department Overseas Building Operations, a career that has spanned 20 years between the two departments. His work has taken him across the world, including to: Kosovo, Saudi Arabia, Laos, Afghanistan, Mozambique, Croatia, Lebanon, and Morocco.

Prior to that career, he worked eleven years in the casino industry in Atlantic City, NJ. as a security officer. Then he moved on to being a correctional officer at a youth detention facility in Savannah, GA. After three years at the youth facility, he became a federal contractor abroad.

He is the father of two children, and he has five grandchildren.

Born and raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey, he currently resides in Forest Park, Georgia.
