Diego Boneta will make his literary debut next year with a novel that is already getting a series adaptation, People magazine reports.

Amazon Crossing will publish the actor’s The Undoing of Alejandro Velasco next spring. The novel follows Julian Villareal, who becomes entwined in the family of the title character, a tennis player who died unexpectedly.

Boneta is known for his roles in films including Rock of Ages, Before I Fall, and Father of the Bride, and for his albums Diego and Indigo. He is set to star in an Amazon series adaptation of Richard Dominguez’s comic book El Gato Negro.

Amazon is also behind the series adaptation of The Undoing of Alejandro Velasco, in which Boneta will star as Julian Villareal. The script for the series will be written by Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Ugly Betty) and Natalia Castells-Esquivel (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series). Boneta is among the series’ executive producers.

Boneta shared news of the book and series on Instagram, writing, “Building this world with my partners at Amazon has been a dream come true. Not only will there be a novel, but also an audiobook (in Spanish and English) narrated by me, and a TV show in the works where I’ll bring this character to life on screen—and get to play tennis every day on set! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have.”
