HAPPY TIMES IN NOISY VILLAGE

The frolics of six ""cardboard"" children take place on three adjoining farms, which the author states (in the person of Lisa, the nine year old narrator) take up Noisy Village. The times may be happy, but the events are meager and dull, and the overly intimate, babyish tone of the narrator is annoying-- even embarrassing. The well-known Swedish author has slipped here, ending up only with a pot boiler, if that, in this sentimental book. An easy vocabulary for the backward reader.
