REBELLION AT QUAKER HILL

One of the best in a series that in the main has managed to sidestep the obvious and pick incidents in our national growth that have not been squeezed dry of their juice. This -- by the co-editor of the series, and a writer who knows his Hudson Valley background thoroughly,- tells the story of the farmers' revolt in New York, some ten years before the American Revolution. The Prendergasts -- Quaker maid and quick tempered Irishman -- were deeply involved in the abortive attempt to protest the feudal system under which they operated their farms. Here is one of the first blows struck for a new society. A bit of true history, set against the Hudson River valley from Poughkeepsie to New York.
