by Catherine Hiller ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 2, 1979
Argentaybee is good little Emily's bad imaginary playmate and the Boonie is Argentaybee's naughty baby sister. Emily's mother becomes a little annoyed with Argentaybee's and the Boonie's mild tricks; but then Emily starts to school and meets a real friend to be innocuously naughty with, and the imaginary ones pack up and move to Paris. Argentaybee and the Boonie, we're told, were Hiller's own childhood inventions, but that doesn't make them any more interesting than their many picture-book predecessors. Szekeres' pale pink pictures of pudgy kitten Emily and an all-cat cast are as dull as the story, and more cloying.
