THE RUMPUS ON COMMODORE HILL

A slight story for youngest readers features a Navy lieutenant's family and the mystery his four active children help to solve. Just back from two years in Japan, Rusty, 11, Sandy, 9, and the four year old twins, Dingy and Dirty (short for Douglas and Dirk) find themselves living near the Admiral's quarters because of a housing shortage on the base. With few other children around, the four have little trouble causing the most rumpus. But the good that comes of it is that they are able to clear their friend Yamo, the Admiral's houseboy, from a theft charge by discovering the gardener is the guilty one.
