In this American edition we have presented to readers on this side of the Atlantic a collection of essays on moral and spiritual themes which should command a considerable reading public especially, although not exclusively, among Catholics. Dom Hubert Van Zeller has won quite a following in England by his leadership in religious retreats, and by his extensive correspondence with those who write to him concerning their ethical and religious problems. These essays deal largely with problems of personal relationships and adjustment in one's work, in marriage and in other contacts. Dom Van Zeller is practical and wise. While he brings the teaching of the Catholic Church to bear upon the topics he discusses, his approach is not so much that of the preacher as of the friendly counsellor.
