ONE OF FRED'S GIRLS

This is one of Elisabeth Friermood's homespun out stories about Bonny, who hates the chores of her native midwestern farm and leaves at eighteen to become one of Fred Harvey's girls, working in a New Mexico way station. Mr. Harvey monitors them closely (no marriage before a year) but in spite of that her friend Trixy falls in love, weds and at the close is the proud mother of twins. As for Bonny, she can't make up her mind between Will, a part-Indian telegrapher, and Dr. Joshua Hubbard, until a dream reveals her true feelings. The story barely hums but it will do.
