THE WAINWRIGHT INHERITANCE

Agnes is a reasonably youthful woman when her husband's death leaves her with a large house (Antioch, Long Island), some money, but a difficult and domineering stepdaughter, Miriam. A little later she is left with the Wainwright inheritance- an even larger house and the worldly wealth of an aunt by marriage. But while Miriam is irritatingly everpresent, Tom Jones, a widower, and Sully, a chronic bachelor, are pleasantly attentive. Even so- it is the minister, Dr. Sheridan, with whom she falls in love and she is able to ease her troubles with Miriam by encouraging her marriage to Sully... A very small woman's world- this- where New York is still the ""Big Burg"", but Elizabeth Corbett's following will find it a commonplace, comfortable place to be. Others may find it demure- even a little dowdy.
