The Kimball Collection"" was a private collection of classical antiquities around which the life interest of elderly Anthony Kimball had centered. It had its place in the household which, outside his quarters, was overrun with his grandsons, obstreperous small boys, seemingly left to their own devices by his beautiful daughter-in-law, whose capacities as mother and housekeeper continually surprised him. There are incidents woven into the story that are incredible, even in the slackest of housewives in fact there are throughout elements never made convincing. Miss Corbett is at her best in drawing portraits of elderly people; but in the main this story is not up to her best, and its unreality and limping plot hurt the general pattern.
