SACAGAWEA: Bird Girl

An addition to the Childhood of Famous American Series in the story of the Indian girl married to a French trapper, and a member of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition. There are interesting details but -- given this subject -- it is a disappointing story as a whole, and does not stand out as a dramatic unit. Clear material, simply presented, with value as source material in supplementary reading, with some stress on feminine viewpoint, but with little of the historical of the period. The emphasis on family aspects is the chief claim to interest.
