RUSSIA -- YOUTH AND THE PRESENT DAY WORLD

A little more than half the book concerns itself with youth and Russia and a study of the mental hygiene situation under the Soviet regime. The balance of the book deals with Doctor Williams' theories of life and religion and present day youth problems. In view of the constructive and creative work he is doing in mental hygiene in our educational system, he is well qualified to speak with authority, and to be studied seriously by readers interested in educational and social problems of young people. Sane, balanced, a bit radical on points pertaining to religion and sex instruction. His Russian experiences and investigations have brought him to a very sympathetic and fairly enthusiastic attitude toward to salutary effects of the Russian system on the mental hygiene of a whole people -- as preventive medicine rather than curative. His chapter comparing the Russian and American methods of education is a challenge to everyone concerned in educational problems.
