Unabashed as to rhyme (aluminum/ruminum) and making only a sometime stab at scansion, Mrs. Galbraith takes a good-natured cardboard sword to urban and suburban life. Here are the customary encounters with harrowing but worthwhile husbands, bewildering children, overwhelming store clerks, over-staying guests; here the ways and Wiles of the housewife on garde and spiritedly ready for the fray. Philosophical tidbits in quatrain form, a seizure of couplets in several fits form a part of the cheerful melange, whose mark is middling, and definitely not for the McGinley set.
