On Midsummer Eve, the night when wishes come true, Smallest Brownie hides from his companions and wishes his toadstool hide-away into a house. At the same time one of two children wishes to see a brownie. On a woodsy excursion the next day she spies Smallest Brownie in his toadstool house and prevents her brother from uprooting it for his nature collection. Despite the simplicity of this little plot, the author has employed a bale full of verbiage to tell it which will unfortunately take its toll on the young listener's attention.
