DANNY DUNN AND THE WEATHER MACHINE

Danny Dunn, whose scientific curiosity is already well known to those familiar with his anti-gravity and homework machines, in this lively episode is busily at work creating a rain maker. With just enough scientific detail as a basis, the preposterous exploits of Danny and his friends, Joe and Irene, all but turn the University town in which they live into a deluge. In the end, Danny's enthusiastic efforts to prevent a drought are somewhat dampened, but not before he and his readers have taken an enjoyable and imaginative tour of the world of weather, and incidentally absorbed some accurate facts concerning what makes the lightning strike.
