BUFFALO BILL

As with Leaf the Lucky it is difficult to put a finger on just why this book is not wholly satisfying. Perhaps because it is too pretty- too neat a package for days which demanded their fill of blood and sinev. However, it makes an excellent introduction to a popular figure in American folklore and history, with text and pictures (big effective lithographs in color) which play on imagination as well as facts of a glamorous life. There's something of the western march as background for this picture story of the famous rider-hunter-show man.
