LEIF THE LUCKY

Legend and history and the authentic feel of the north countries in the saga-like tale of the Norsemen in Greenland, of the voyaging to Finland, of the return to Iceland, and of the settlements made in the new country. The d'Aulaires are at their best in the pictures accompanying this text (remember Ola- still one of my favorites). But the text is not easy reading. It is a somewhat complex story, with many implications mature for younger readers, but there is a good picture of the life of those far-off days which they have convincingly portrayed.
