GOOD NEIGHBOR SAM

The Bissells -- Sam and Min -- live next door to shapely Janet Ebbett. Jan's grandfather has recently died and left her 11 million dollars with the stipulation that she is to be married in order to collect. Jan was married, but less than a year ago she has secured a divorce. Since she lives in California --, and since in California one is not free to remarry until one full year has elapsed after the time of divorce, Jan could be considered married. But the second-in-line relatives must be kept from fussing lost this rather tenuous legal base be toppled. So begins this rather silly but slick one joke affair. Sam moves next door with Jan to fool a hired sleuth. Since none of her relatives knows about the divorce, Sam makes believe he is Mr. Ebbett. Sam's attracted to Jan, Jan to Sam. Will they or won't they -- thrown together in such delightfully dangerous propinquity -- get down to the business of really playing house?... Not bad really, all this. But not good enough either to overcome some very tired situation comedy.
