This edition of letters between the famous contemporary Swiss Theologian and his close friend and colleague, consists of two parts -- the first, letters from Barth to Thurneysen; the second letters exchanged by the two. The burden of the correspondence is theological -- books read, sermons preached, theological issues with which the two were wrestling as pastors. The bond between the correspondents is illuminated by reference to personal delights, jests, and experiences. The main contribution of the volume is in the light it throws on the development of Barth's theology.
