by Jean Van Leeuwen ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 28, 1969
One Day in Summer has one distinction: a grandfather who's not an old man. Otherwise it's just another tasteful, tenuous celebration of a young boy's day on a beach, less precise (the sandpiper's not identified and neither are the shells) but also less ecstatic than some. But a little precious, withal, except when Grandfather shows him how to ride a wave. What's wanted at the seashore is some action.
