CACHE LAKE COUNTRY

Of the North Woods country- and what living in the wilderness is like, solo, this has a feeling for natural history and the delights of outdoors know-how. The author, finding his dream lake, is able to return there as supervisor for a timber company, describes his manual achievements, improvisations, of the toll of the weather and the seasons and the wyas in which they can be circumvented. He also tells of lake and forest adventures, on trips, and there is plenty about woodcraft, living off the land, and variations on rations, working with what is on hand. Avoiding the panegyric, but providing untold information in outdoor lore, the material here is informative and will appeal to that audience for whom everything about wilderness life is all.
