ROGER AND THE FOX

A shy little story serves to convey a feeling of autumn and the rapt snowy silence of winter. This makes good Christmas holiday reading, long enough for a leisurely afternoon of stormy weather. Lovely woodland scenes by Hildegard Woodward show Roger as he explores his Connecticut hill farm in search of a most elusive red fox. A difficult theme well-handled with feeling and sustained story quality. A fortunate combination of author and artist. Done in autumn tints. Picture book format- heavy board-pastedown.
