In 1577 Oliver Barrett's dream came true when he made his first voyage with the incomparable Sir Francis Drake. This was to be the beginning of a long association which took young Oliver through the northern straits in search of new sea routes, on a mission to Cadiz where he was instrumental in warning Drake of the strength of the Spanish Armada and aboard the English galleons themselves at the height of the battle which resulted in this stupendous victory. Excerpts from letters and diaries authenticate events and add historical flavor to a fictional sea faring tale.
