FURNITURE TREASURY

This promises to be one of the best pieces of merchandise- quality merchandise- of this season, but the very subject matter defines the audience. The two volume Furniture Treasury reissued in 1948 (the 1928 edition was out of print) sells at $25. That edition is virtually exhausted. Now in one volume- and at this price- with all the 5000 illustrations of the original, Furniture Treasury becomes an essential item for public library reference shelves (the 7(apple) pounds weight almost precludes circulation), and for private libraries not only of dealers and collectors, but of the amateur antique addict who wants an authoritative work on American antiques. The text is scarcely more than descriptive captions, but the scope of inclusions, items photographed from 500 collections, museums and private collections, makes almost certain that the identification value is almost all-inclusive. The periods covered extend from the earliest American primitive work through the Empire. Extensive promotion planned.
