STRANGLER'S SERENADE

The crescendo to a point of panic when an island community (New England) witnesses a senseless succession of murders, in which a mild old man, the town drunk, its richest widow, its halfwit and a young couple are all victims. Champ Prescott, New York City detective, lends some professional assistance, finds a common denominator in the death pattern just in time to save the life of the girl he loves... The excitement of his earlier books has lost its first flush, but this is still efffective entertainment.
