Another worthy reprinting of an early Barbara Pym novel--this one from 1961, the last novel published before the 1963 publisher rejection of An Unsuitable Attachment (posthumously published, p. 367) helped to push Pym into premature retirement. (Before her death in 1980 Pym was ""rediscovered"" and wrote three new novels.) No Fond Return of Love again features mildly amorous professors and quietly yearning spinsters headed for a shaky but happy ending--and those who prefer the gently comic Pym (as opposed to the grimmer Pym of Quartet in Autumn) will find it a welcome addition to the US-available canon.
