LAST BUS TO WOODSTOCK

Oxford's the site where a young girl is picked up at a bus stop, only to be killed and left and later molested in the courtyard of a pub. Who had seen her? Who else had been with her in the car of a middle-aged professor with more youthful inclinations who later admits part of the story while trying to protect the identity of the girl and preserve his marriage? Chief Inspector Morse presides over the case to his own sorrow and it's managed with considerable complexity, intelligence and sympathetic interest.
