Over-stimulated Little Bear needs another bit of playful nudging to coax him home for bedtime. One last walk with Mother Bear brings on explanations for how each of his neighbors settles down to sleep. Little Owl stretches her feathers to “feel the whisper of the soft night breeze,” Baby Hare takes a bath in the snow, Little Foxes cuddle and snuggle with Mother Fox and Little Whale listens to his mother’s soft singing. By the time this polar-bear couple reaches home, Little Bear has tried all of these bedtime rituals, finally falling asleep “nestled into his mother’s soft fur.” Beautifully rendered oversized full-page acrylics in different shades of arctic blues, pinks and whites limn this little one’s inquisitive glee and ultimate satisfaction on his nighttime romp. Rambunctious and more tranquil preschoolers will want to make this story part of their nightly downtime routine. Quite lovely and soothing. (Picture book. 2-5)
