Those who remember E.G. Robinson in the movie Brother Orchid will find this apple-checked tale about a Mafia-hit rescued in nun's clothing a frail substitute. Bouncy Sister John and herb buff Sister Hyacinthe of a tiny impoverished order take over an inherited turreted manse in upstate New York and find not only the future Sister Ursula, but visiting Mafia and hirelings, friendly flower children, migrant workers, caches of loot and dope in and about the premises. Sister John's pansy cheer is a bit hard to take.
