A neat trick of a nonbook—which might serve incidentally as an early reading lure. Each right-hand page shows an enigmatic cluster of shapes, a clue ("call me curly"), and one or more letters of the name of the animal—which, when the page is held to light, emerges complete. (In this case -I- becomes PIG and the flat, bulb shape takes on snout, googly eyes, and curly tail.) Nifty design? Natch. Gimmick? To be sure.
