WISHING WATER GATE

Robin and his sister, respectively thirteen and eleven, encounter the mysterious legends of Black Mountain, in the north of England, on their arrival at the home their Great Aunt Jane had willed to their mother. The plunge into adventure includes hidden stairways, a sampler with a mysterious message, underground caves and a long lost water gate. With their next door neighbors, Dick and Jane, they succeed in closing the gate and in shifting the course of the water back to its original channel, they give the thirsting village water again. For a mystery at this age level, it has more than the usual holding interest and fidelity to the character of the children. Lively reading.
