The wide cast of characters casually and naturally reflects diversity throughout the galaxy, apart from the brief, clunky introduction of a transgender character. Overall, Mann strikes a satisfying balance between inner turmoil, a malicious threat, devastating stakes, and hopeful, heroic action.
