A companion story for Greene's The Little Red Fire Engine (published last year and also illustrated in color by Dorothy Craigie) takes a similar theme, though with different characters and setting and chronicles a London grocer's conquest of bankruptcy. When a new store opens across the street from Mr. Potter and takes all his business, it is his horse Brandy and his little horse bus who catch the thieves that try to rob his rival. Heroism wins the day and Potter wins popularity. Hearty, but not The Heart of the Matter.
