CHINESE DOMESTIC FURNITURE

This appeared originally in a limited edition of 200 copies in 1944- and the book has since become as much of a collector's find as the beautiful pieces it reproduces in the text and some 161 plates. Collaborating with Dr. Ecke of the Catholic University of Peking is Mr. Yang Yueh, an artist-draughtsman, who provides precise measurements of the pieces (valuable for reproduction). The text provides the historical derivation and development of oriental furniture which has not only a ""pristine dignity"" but a symmetry and classical purity rarely equalled. The full page photographs (in themselves an art form) of tables, platforms, chairs, cupboards, stands, wardrobes and the beautiful metal mounts are exceptional. This is indeed a collector's book de choix to grace a Chinese trestle table or tea table if you are lucky enough to own one.
