Sid the cat not only gets six meals a day from the various families on Aristotle Street, but he also has a different name, bed, and favorite place for each of his ``owners'' to scratch- -until one nasty cough results in six trips to the vet, who blows Sid's cover. Moore makes the most of her tall tale in amusing illustrations detailing Sid's several characters, then ends with a satisfying twist: abandoning his incensed owners, Sid moves to friendlier Pythagoras Place, where no one minds his continuing ploys.
