MAGICIAN'S WIFE

The same sort of trouble Cain has raised ever since the Postman with diminishing success, perhaps just because this kind of thrillkill fiction has become more commonplace. This one is all about a sex kitten who is really a wild cat. Actually she's murder. Her name is Sally Alexis and she is married to a magician when Clay Lockwood meets her and falls in love with her. He's in the frozen, meat business but he has nothing to do with the kind of cold cuts Sally has in mind. She wants to kill her father-in-law (he has lots of money) and then her husband. And Clay is guilty of collusion before he seems reasonably more settled with Sally's mother (whom he marries) and before an innocent girl is pegged as the killer... An updated version of all his Venal, vicious vixens (Moth, Butterfly, etc., etc.) and the story reads with the usual pace and toxicity.
