Emily Pig and Eugene Turtle continue their anarchic adventures in this third book about them, the second to concentrate on Emily's dedicated gluttony. When Eugene appears with a Popsicle cart, Emily has eaten three before Eugene informs her that she was supposed to pay for them. Since Emily is broke from previous gastronomic adventures, she must work off her debt, but her attempts to do so only worsen the problem until she inadvertently rescues a wedding cake from thieves and is offered a reward which will return her to solvency. Or a box of chocolate eclairs. Emily's fans will anticipate her decision. Ramshackle yet entertaining, the story is carried by Emily's resolutely greedy character and Marshall's slyly detailed, cartoon-like illustrations. Although not on the level of his Wings, the book will nonetheless be welcomed by Marshall's fans.
