THE SECOND EXPERIMENT

Eons ago the Roiiss -- amoral energy beings from another continuum -- performed their mysterious First Experiment and then retired from the galactic fray, leaving their descendant, an endearing dragon, behind under the care of Tec the robot. Tec and his charge encounter Wirzan, an implacably malevolent computer, and their battle continues down the millenia into earth's 21st century when a band of earthlings become involved in the denouement. The Roiiss put in a final appearance and their Second Experiment is foiled, thus preventing the destruction of the universe. Jeppson's sense of whimsy is appealing but this remains a routine variation on the theme of saving the galaxy from hostile aliens.
