BORKA

The Adventures Of A Goose With No Feathers

Borka, like the ugly duckling, was laughed into an inferiority complex. Unlike the odd duck, however, Borka does not undergo a transformation; she is as bald as a goose as she was when a gosling. As they say in the fashion magazines, she learns to emphasize and thus transform her weakest feature. Only after taking brief sea voyage by mistake, does she find happiness —in the Kew Gardens of London where there are many strange birds. Now she can wear her grey jersey (hand-knit feathers) with confidence. The freely stylized illustrations in bold lines and appropriate, vivid colors are many and strong.
