A crime investigation turns steamy when an FBI agent recruits an idealistic hacker in the latest romantic thriller from Garwood (Fast Track, 2014, etc.).

Allison Trent hesitates when Liam Scott offers her a job tracking a security leak within the FBI—she knows she could help, but if he finds out she illegally hacked a bank’s server to return stolen money to its rightful owners, she could be the target of a new investigation. Liam, however, is desperate for her skills (and distracted by her good looks), so he offers her immunity for all her crimes if she agrees to take the case. She’s moments away from saying no when her out-of-control cousin gets into more legal trouble, giving her no choice but to accept Liam’s offer if it means he’ll help her family as well. Allison is grateful that her aunt and uncle adopted her and her sister after their parents died, but their drunken fights and constant demands for money are taking a toll on her sanity. Readers will feel for Allison as her aunt and uncle repeatedly take advantage of her kindness to keep their son out of prison; and Allison’s heartthrob, Liam, is enigmatic yet surprisingly warm. But her efficiency in finding the rogue FBI agent and her willingness to reveal her secrets without much detective work from Liam make the novel's main plot and back story seem to switch places.

Overall, a few computer glitches won’t detract from this pleasing romance in which finding out the truth leads to finding true love.
