The Happy Lion, already a favorite of children, is a little less happy as he worries over the future of his cub, Francois. Francois' venture into Parisian society turns out to be something of a disaster as he grows and asserts his lionlike enthusiasm in Madame's boudoir,tearing the bed to shreds, breaking bottles, upsetting furniture. Nor can he muster up the required ferocity to render him a convincing circus animal. How Francois finds himself in horticulture and relieves the Happy Lion's momentary unhappiness makes up another delightfully Gallic adventure with a tiny French vocabulary and Roger Duvoisin's uniquely ingratiating color illustrations.
