The battle between humans and dragons comes to a head in the unimpressive concluding volume to Weis's Dragonvarld trilogy (The Dragon's Son, 2004).
With a rogue sect of dragons scheming to enslave humanity, half-brothers Ven—a half-man/half-dragon monstrosity raised in secrecy—and Marcus—a handsome prince raised in the court, blessed (or cursed) with the ability to wield Dragon magic due to the circumstances of his birth—seek and ultimately find the path to victory. Human-friendly dragons Draconas and Lysira play an important role, providing hope for future relations between the two species. In this concluding volume, Marcus finds romance and Ven finds self-acceptance, while series villains Anora, Maristara and Grald receive their richly deserved comeuppance in predictable fashion.
A paint-by-numbers fantasy whose soap-opera characterizations, laughable dialogue and execrable prose will have judicious readers rolling their eyes.
