Cuyler flogs a one-trick pony in this uninspired sequel to 1991’s That’s Good! That’s Bad! Hiking the Grand Canyon with his grandma, a feckless lad falls over the trail’s edge and into a series of weakly connected good-luck/bad-luck misadventures to the alternating chorus of “Oh, that’s good. No, that’s Bad!” and conversely. Catrow (Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon, 2001, etc.) does his best to pump up the energy level with frenzied scenes filled with pop-eyed figures and squiggly lines, but the joke begins to get monotonous after a few pages. Stick with Remy Charlip’s Fortunately (1984). (Picture book. 5-7)
