THE TREMOR OF FORGERY

Through John Ingham, an American novelist, and his fellow tourists in Tunisia, the author investigates the strange disappearance of moral values on the part of this ordinary Western man when he finds himself isolated in the Near East. Ingham probably killed the elderly Arab thief who was breaking into Ingham's cottage and the hotel probably buried the body to avoid bad p.r., but all Ingham can discover in his own reactions is a slight, self-protective fear rather than guilt. Proceeds as slowly as a tired caravan, but something different in the mystery line.
