by Richard Edes Harrison ‧ RELEASE DATE: June 26, 1944
I think I found this the most exciting atlas of the three (the third was reported on Page 15 -- issue of April 15th -- A WAR ATLAS FOR AMERICANS -- S & S). It is not a war atlas, any more than the Rais Atlas is a war atlas. But it snapped me out of more delusions, illusions and shibboleths -- things I've always taken on faith about maps than all the other books and global geographies put together. Perhaps for the first time, I felt myself outside looking down, seeing the globe from all angles, varying perspectives, realising dramatically new interrelations through the effect of constantly turning the globe. And through this realiation, seeing again -- with fresh understanding -- the reasons for this global war. 33 pages of maps in full color. 11 in black and white. Twelve, pages of index, showing what a mass of material is actually contained in what at first sight seems primarily a beautiful and exciting picturebook.
