“If I were you, I’d snuggle down and go to sleep.” A weary father’s timeless suggestion becomes the impetus for this imaginative, rib-tickling tale. While a young girl and her dad ponder what it would be like to exchange places, each glamorizes the other’s seemingly idyllic life. Their flights of fancy include Dad eating oatmeal for breakfast while his daughter feasts on a sundae, and her cleaning house while Dad lounges on the couch. Ultimately what they discover is that they love to be together, no matter what their roles. Cole’s watercolor illustrations are uproariously funny, including wry details that add to the hilarity of the scenarios envisioned by the duo. Readers will giggle over such silly images as that of a grizzled Dad wearing a pink tutu wedged in his daughter’s stroller being steered down Main Street. This funny, warmhearted tale is not to be missed. (Picture book. 4-8)
