Sequel and conclusion to Sergeant Lamb's America, a book which was lost in the fanfare of that other story of the Tory side of the American Revolution, Oliver Wiswell. Perhaps, with this sequel, the earlier book will get the spotlight again. This volume tells of the imprisonment in Boston, of Lamb's escape to New York, where again he joined up, this time with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, gets first hand experience of the "neutral ground", Connecticut forays, Charleston, Camden, and Yorktown. After the surrender, he eventually escapes and makes his way to New York, whence he is shipped home to Ireland. Detailed reading, with Lamb having much to say about what he sees and hears, the war as a British soldier saw it. A feat of authenticity, creatively interpreted in style, events and Lamb's personal history. Heavy going at times, but worth while.
