More Homer Price adventures at last and these stories will not disappoint McCloskey readers. Again the imaginative horse-play with extravagant adventures and Fibber Magee characters:- sleepy Uncle Ulysses, the sheriff who has consonant trouble; Gabby, the loquacious salesman; and of course, Grandfather Herc of the tall tales, and Homer, the cool head throughout adult distraction. A few of Grandfather's best here — the tale of the hopping prospector, who leaped by mistake to the top of a cliff; the town which had clock trouble; and the story of the barreled Indians. Also some Centerburg mishaps about a hexed Juke box and some giant ragweed. As cockily satisfying as a chew of bubble gum.
