I don't like this as well as the other McCloskey books. Homer is a real enough boy, but too many adventures happen too aptly, and the nonsense at times seems distinctly tongue-in-cheek adult, as if a satire on Superman and the comics. There is a pet skunk, which plays an important part in several of the cops and robbers adventures; there is a debunking story about Super-Duper; there are modern mechanisms and routine patterns. The stories are episodic, and uneven in interest. The McCloskey pictures are sure to be a good sales factor.
