Random racontage by lawyer, ex-D.A., ex-novelist Traver has a fair amount of human interest, not much style (Mr. Traver objects to "inflated" juridical speech and/or writing and he's a long way from it—in fact he just kind of gabs in his shirtsleeves). Getting down to cases—well these deal with a good many court curios—say the retainer who was retained in actual slavery in the California of 1946; or the prosecution of an attempted murder with an unloaded gun; or the use of hypnosis to practice medicine unlawfully; or the privacy invasion (by the police) of Sunshine Gardens, a nudist colony; along with some comments on rape ("the wrong man") and adultery.... Some of these appeared in the Michigan State Bar Journal and they're a pleasant not much.... a legal eagle moulting pinfeathers.
